Special Programs Assistant (June 2014 - July 2015)
The internship I worked at Ohio University's Ohio Program of Intensive English (OPIE) is difficult to succinctly explain. It involved working full time at Ohio University where I helped international and study abroad students with many various things. These are some of the things I did in this role:
Assisted in ESL (English as a Second Language) Classes
Planned and coordinated orientations, events, and volunteer activities
Arranged and chaperoned cultural trips
Administered evaluations
Oversaw hiring and coordination of student tutors and drivers
Conducted weekly informational meetings with student groups
Helped with daily tasks ranging from tracking down lost keys to mailing a package
Japanese high school students from Inagakuen High school
Korean students from Korea University of Technology and Education
Mexican students through the Proyecta 100,000 program
Brazilian students through the Brazil Scientific Mobility Program
Fulbright Scholars from around the world
Study Abroad at Chubu University (September 2012 - December 2012)
This was a 3 month study abroad program where we took various Japanese language classes such as grammar, reading, speaking, culture and listening.
English Tutor / Cultural Aid (March 2012 – May 2014)
This is one of the jobs I had as a student at Ohio University where I did the following:
Individually aided Japanese students from Chubu University write, prepare, and practice speeches they had to deliver in English
Reinforced core concepts from their class in a large group setting by giving lectures, and organizing workshops and activities
Aided in orientations for Japanese study abroad students by conducting tours of campus, helping students fill out paperwork, and assisting students purchase goods for their stay
